MILITARY FAMILIES: How Do Real Estate Agents Work?
You just got orders. And you need to sale your home, so you call a real estate company.
They put an agent on the phone and they come out to meet with you.
Now it gets FUNNY
They tell you your house is worth $150,000 (you know the house down the street just sold for only 138,000). You think this is great, MORE MONEY is MORE MONEY.
You sign a 6 month contract
Month 1 goes by, NO one has come to look at your property.
Month 2 NO one again. You call the reality company. You are told that you may need to lower the purchase price. And you do; $145,000.
You have lowered your purchase price but no takers
Now you are 20 days out before you will need to leave. Your agent calls and tells you that they can offer you $2500 for your moving expense and will deduct it when your home is sold. $2,500 at 10% interest.
Or some even offer to make 3 months of your mortage payments for you. Again at 10% interest.
Now the 6 month contract is over
You owe them $2500-$3500. Your property is not sold and now you will have to start making payments again. Your agent tell you that they will buy your property for $125,000 so you won't have to worry about that next mortage payment.
THE REALITY TRAP
It is over; you sell and move on with your life.
